Books … Morning, Afternoon and Evening Delight

Books … Morning, Afternoon and Evening Delight

OK … I confess … I’m a Book Addict. And I don’t plan on entering a 12-Step program to stop my beloved addiction and pleasure. The countless hours of pleasure that they have given me since I was a little kid can never be tallied. The goosing to my imagination gives me a Happy Dance. The creation of the AuthorU.org community with members all over the world is a wonder. And the reality that working …

Authoring is a Business … “Get It” for Your #Book #Success!

Authoring is a Business … “Get It” for Your #Book #Success!

As an author, do you think of yourself as just the author? And wear only the author hat … most likely, you would rather be writing.
Or, do you think of yourself as an author … and a business owner—the business owner of all things authoring? Or, if appropriate, as the business owner of a small publishing company? Meaning that once your book is written, and in production, you put your author hat down and …

5 More Publishing Blunders to Avoid … Part II

5 More Publishing Blunders to Avoid … Part II

Publishing Blunders aren’t fun … as pointed out last week with the first 5 Publishing Blunders.

Celebrating the Author and Book Publishing World?

Celebrating the Author and Book Publishing World?

What is independence in publishing? Good question to think about on this 4th of July. As the Author and Publishing Worlds Turn, the words “self” and “independent” have almost become interchangeable. There is a difference, agreed, a fine line at times.

A self-published book can mean almost anything … from what gets spilled out of the fingers and mind of the author to the presentation from the local printing shop and sometimes looking like it was put …

Why Should You Publish via Printing … Let Me Count the Ways!

With the onslaught of the “e” world … and yes, it is an onslaught; the overwhelming amount of “e” pollution has turned many off. “You’re an author … what type of an author are you? A real author … or who that just jabbers and tosses out anything and everything, without really thinking about content, much less the audience that it is meant for or who it really is?

Can you be a real author and …

8 Lessons for Authors from the Shark Tank

8 Lessons for Authors from the Shark Tank

 I confess, I’m a devotee to ABC’s Shark Tank.

It gives a variety—and I mean HUGE variety of entrepreneurs at every stage the opportunity to pitch their company to five entrepreneurs who have been enormously successful in their individual endeavors—oh, you can rest assured that they have had some detours and potholes along the way.   If the pitch “hooks” them, the lucky, and very nervous budding entrepreneur gets a partner. The cost—part of his or her …
