Happy Birthday to U.S.A. and to the Freedom of Speech / Words

Thursday is the 4th of July … a huge day in America that is looked forward to for a variety of reasons by millions of Americans. Many Americans start in early –this year, it’s probably tomorrow through Sunday. Flags are out. Families and friends plan on picnics, barbecues, and gatherings. All a good thing.

  • It’s America’s birthday. Meaning a celebration with family and friends.
  • What happened within the walls of what became known as Independence Hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania was life-changing. The Declaration of Independence and Constitution were both debated and adopted.

  • Within the Constitution lies multiple Amendments. The First Amendment is essential and critical to what we authors do: Freedom of Religion, Speech, and the Press.

Amendment 1

Freedom of Religion, Speech, and the Press

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof, or abridging the freedom of speech or of the press, or the right of people peaceably to assemble and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

Cherish the fact that our Founding Fathers lit our writing paths with … freedom. Freedom for our words and our books.

For ALL Authors and Writers globally, we should be joining in a universal cheer and celebration of the power of our words. Their meaning … their impact … their ability to make a difference … to create change … to solve problems … to relieve pain … to entertain. That’s a tremendous amount of power.  It’s a  very cool thing to think about this 4th of July—wouldn’t you agree? Have a grand day … the sparkler in your hand is your words, your passion, your vision. Hold it high.

Spend time with your family and your friends today. And honor yourself for what you do for so many. Our Founding Fathers would be proud.
