SOLD OUT as of June 19, 2015
for the September 15, 2016 date

Contact Info@AuthorU.org and ask to be placed on Waiting List–there is a possibility on one more spot opening up.

There are FOUR HOT sessions will be available at the 2016 Extravaganza September 15-17, 2016 … only ONE Attendee can get his or her toe in the Author Shark Tank at a time. Our panel will listen for a few minutes to your pitch (hear/read that: LISTEN) and then decide IF and HOW they will help the author in the book and publishing quest. The Author Shark Tank will be held late Thursday afternoon, September 15th.

The Author Sharks like passion, persistence and excellence. They will proved incentives to writers and authors who demonstrate it in publishing and authoring through a variety of awards that pertain to their own expertise and product line.

What’s the value to you? It could be money; it could be time; it could be a product – as in the Author Shark has a product that he or she sells all day for $897 and it’s yours, free; it could be the joint venture creation of a product that features the author and his or her book—that is blasted to mega thousands to buy; it could be printing reduction; it could be a book cover; it could be a discount on a layout; it could be … What it could be will be solely dependent on YOU and YOUR PITCH to hook them and could be worth many thousands of dollars. Or if you bomb, you may only end up with a shark tooth! To enter the tank, there’s a fee.

Last year, participants came away with many thousands of dollars.

Author Shark Tank participants are identified on a first-come, first-serve basis. You will get pre-conference coaching from Judith Briles prior to entering the Tank.

Save the date – get it on your calendar. And if you want a guaranteed spot in the Author Shark Tank, swim forward and let us know!

As you can see, there are ALREADY two guppies ready to start swimming. Are you ready to Dare Greatly?

I’m ready to start swimming … add me in!

Working with Bookstores

ONLINE-ZOOM …Saturday, November 6, 2021

Authoring and publishing a book is a major event. And accomplishment. Your local bookstore could be the door opener at the beginning of the process; during; and post when you have book in hand. Do you know what steps to take in engaging a bookseller … what specific questions you should ask … plus what exactly you should be giving one about you and your book?

Start with Pre and During book development including what to do 3 to 6 months prior to publication:

  • Why you should attend store events.
  • Ideas on building your support community.
  • Items you should be doing online.
  • What to include on your website.
  • How to reach out to a distributor.
  • Tips on bold spine design that gets attention.
  • Nurturing your author etiquette.

ONLINE Saturday, June 4th, 2022

When it comes to authors and book marketing, it may be an Apple Pie and Ice Cream experience … or Crème Brulé with a Dill Pickle Topping. Kinda ugh. Whether marketing is fun or an overwhelming tsunami, there are tips, tricks, and tools that can calm your author resistance and get things moving once again.

  • How effective is yours?

  • Are you open to new strategies and tips?

AuthorYOU authors will be celebrated and featured at the June Barnes and Noble Bookfair to sign, sell books, and support the Colorado Author’s Hall of Fame. Barnes & Noble has been a generous supporter of Colorado Authors and the AuthorYOU community.

This is an event where any books and other store merchandise purchased by visitors to the store on Saturday will generate a donation to support the Colorado Author’s Hall of Fame, which will provide funds to support the Aspiring Authors Scholarships that will be awarded in September to residents of Colorado aged 16 and beyond.

The book signing event will feature fiction and nonfiction authors of all genres: adult, YA, juvenile, and children’s books.

If you want to be considered as a participant, you need to:

  • Be a current paid-up member of AuthorYOU.org.
  • Have your books available on the Ingram catalog.
  • Had your book professionally edited.
  • Cross market all participants books – your opening encourages visitors to our tables to meet and get other authors’ books.
  • You commit a minimum of two hours to the event.
  • You encourage everyone in your “circles” to come to the store. Over the phone. In-Person. Through your email. And via your social media portals.
  • BN is supporting you and your book … you support BN as well, encourage book buyers to come to the store on June 18th.
  • You commit a minimum of two hours to the event and be there in person.

Our events are the most successful for authors who engage visitors. Stand and greet.
