We are going to demo and “no-brainer” tool that requires no software downloading and no work on your side. It’s simply a copy and pastes to soar your image success. Love it! And we are going to give you a portal to do a few at zip cost.

What we’ll do in August is a great month. There’s the beauty of both the day and evening … and there is the “prep” planning that leads to the huge Fall book selling season. You will get a “what’s old and what’s new” strategy throughout the morning.

This Saturday is the perfect time to take just three hours for you to get your brainstorming and masterminding hat in the publishing ring and kick off the coming out of winter. Besides the answers to the “What I Need to Know Before I Go” that is posted on the Flip Chart, you will come away with:

* Transition from the CWO to the CMO.

* Re-launch a tired book and add sparkle to your push.

* How to use social media to master book marketing. * Learn about must-have adds for you and your book.

* Learn how to add “juice” to what you are currently doing.

* Learn new author tools to add to your success.

* Always … get any questions you have answered.

Springtime in the Rockies delivers a split weather personality–we could have a little snow; some rain; or sunshine as the day begins. Inside, there will be plenty of HOT NEW ideas that will flip what you think and turn your head and attitude about what works and doesn’t work in today’s publishing arena. All gatherings start with a flip chart and a question: what do you need? The morning is then off … who knows what paths it will take? Is there a book in the works? Are you stuck? Curious about the various publishing options? Ask your questions … AND participate.

The value of the group is to GIVE and SHARE ahas, insights, and techniques, not just TAKE. If you are a taker, Author YOU is not for you. The AuthorYOU participants are hungry for new information and delighted to share what works for them … and what doesn’t. The SALONS created will expand your projects and the breadth of your success. If you want to make your book happen … here’s the inner circle that has ideas and experience to kick start it, goose it and just get the launch started that The Book Shepherd Judith Briles leads each month. Your answers are in the room. AND … it’s MONEY FREE to attend … with two strings attached: Bring a healthy snack to share AND some new socks. Judith is a Sock Ambassador and part of a team that distributes to the Homeless and Kids in Need–, your ideas, questions, an open mind and meet other authors. No question goes unanswered! –come at 9, stay til noon– See you Saturday, August 10th. Hot Coffee and Teas are ready for you.

Warning: if you are a “no-show,” you get two passes; after two misses, future participation will be based on availability.

Oct 16 @ 3:50 pm – 4:50 pm

Audiobooks are booming in popularity, and they’re only growing.

With so many people craving audiobooks these days, if you’re not providing them, you could be losing out on extra royalties every month.

My friend Derek Doepker has a short audiobook that regularly sells 120+ copies each month without ANY audiobook marketing on my part.

This is all passive sales.

The cool thing is, unlike ebooks, it’s not overly crowded so you stand a much better chance of having your books be seen and sold there.

I’m doing a free webinar training with Derek on how you can start profiting with audiobooks.

You can join us at Thursday, November 7th at Noon Mountain HERE: https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/5824343292459092493

Derek will answer all your questions about whether it’s best to do it yourself or outsource.

Even if you live outside the US and UK (ACX distribution territories) you can still us ACX and another resource with some special secrets he’ll share.

On this webinar you’ll discover:

  • How audiobooks are generating hundreds to thousands of extra dollars in royalties for some self-published authors on auto-pilot.
  • How you can produce audiobooks on any budget, and distribute them from anywhere in the world.
  • The critical facts you have to consider before deciding whether to outsource or produce your own audiobooks that could save you thousands of dollars.
  • Where to hire professional audiobook narrators if you wish to outsource.
  • The exact microphone, software, and equipment you need to produce limitless top-quality audiobooks on a shoestring budget.
  • Your audiobook questions answered personally.

Ready? I am … see you there.

Heck Yes! YOU, too can write for children! + Book Marketing in 2020
Jan 4 @ 9:00 am – 12:00 pm

Part I. It’s about the Kids … Write and Publish a Children’s Book

Whether you are currently writing books for kids … or you hadn’t thought about it … January will kick off our Author Year of Possibilities. And why not start with books for kids? If you write for the adult reader, did you know that the book you have already written speaks to all ages when presented in another format?

  • What message is in your book that children need to hear?
    • Fantasy can be changed to be appropriate for all ages.
    • Villains and Heroes softened for younger audiences.
    • The plot and theme can be used to share life lessons
  • Because words change the world, you have an opportunity to change the lives of children. Changing your audience is simply talking to short people without big words.
    • The Giving Tree- teaches about selfishness and selflessness
    • Historical novels- teach about history (which our kids are not getting)
    • Oh the Places You Will Go- Can your novel teach about challenges
  • Your characters are already developed. By changing them to animals, dragons, trolls, or children- the novel takes a different approach
    • Trolls are grumpy
    • Butterflies are freedom
    • An older child is a good mentor for the younger one reading
  • Stories for the younger crowd are from one point of view
    • The cast of characters are fewer
    • Much will be shown in action
    • Shorter pieces of dialogue
  • Scenes you have written can be shortened and enhanced with illustrations.
  • Children’s books have the same conflict, climax, and resolution that your novel has.
    • The length of the conflict is sorter
    • The black moment will be midway through
    • The resolution is longer because you will explain more at the ending
  • Most people think that you are dumbing down the story to write for children, but you are actually going to crank it up a notch.
    • You have to fit more content in fewer words.
    • Every word has to work harder to get the meaning across.
    • Be conscientious about word choice

Show up, have fun, and learn with the guidance of multi-bestselling, award-winning children’s and adult author, Lisa Reinicke.

Part II: We will explore marketing strategies for the New Year.

It’s true 50% of book marketing works—most likely you don’t know which 50% it was. Judith Briles is going to increase your odds and identify a number of tips, tricks, and strategies to kickstart the year.

Who should attend the January 4th program? Authors who are already writing for kids. Authors who have been thinking about writing for kids. Authors who didn’t think they could or just hadn’t thought about it beyond their current book. Authors who want marketing tips and authors who just need to jet some “juice” to get back on track or get started in the first place.

Create and Implement the Business of Authoring and Publishing for Your Success @ Smokey Hill Library – Conference A
Feb 7 @ 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm

Most authors all right-brainers. We like sharing our wisdom from years of experience and insights peppered with real-life situations and events that connect with our readers. We write and publish to resolve their pain and provide solutions. We love the creativity of writing, building a character who may be a bit of an oddball and dropping in unexpected twists in plot.

Your Author Kingdom is a business … yes, yes, it is. Is there nutsiness to it? Maybe a bit of insanity? Yes, yes there is. Can you blink it away? Nope … you need some strategies to bring saneness and organization to you from the get-go.

Soooooo … are you hoping for the Business Fairy to fly in and deal with this side of your life? Stop hoping … we are going to help you out with answers to questions and beyond.

Oh-Oh … you are already writing, publishing, and selling books. Is it too late? You may be past the get-go. Good news: there is always a starting point, a review point, a makeover point. We will take you there and beyond.
