AuthorU Day at Barnes & Noble a Big Success

What a great day Saturday, May 2 was at the Colorado Blvd. Barnes & Noble store in Denver.

Eleven of our authors signed books and passed out vouchers in the stores. John Czingula, Rhondda Hartman, Carol Fenster, Mara Purl, Courtney Miller, Kim Curtis, John Maling, Joe Daniluk, Lynn Hellerstein, Barbara Sternberg and Courtney MillerJudith Briles. Huge thanks to those who dropped in to support and shop–especially Julie Griffin, Philippa Burgess, Charlie Clark and Ronnie Moore. The AuthorU Day at the Barnes & Noble Book Fair–it had two purposes. Rhonda-Mara-Carol

1 Get AuthorU members into the Barnes & Noble system. We’ve opened the door.

2 Raise awareness and moneys for the Authors Hall of Fame.  Participating authors handed out vouchers to customers throughout the day. When they paid for their purchases and turned in the vouchers, AuthorU got “credit” … in turn, Barnes & Noble will donate back to us a percentage of the net sales.  We haven’t heard the magic number as yet, but were told that “AuthorU is doing well with its fund raising.”

Announced that “the Authors Hall of Fame is coming” last year at the Extravaganza, over $3,000 was netted from the 2014 Silent Auction. With the finalizing of all the details with the Board last week during the Extravaganza, watch for announcments, how nominations will be taken in and the first honorees selected and the Authors Hall of Fame Dinner and induction date selected. It will be a wonderful evening.

We’ve been invited back for another BookFair … to be considered to participate, AuthorU members MUST have their books within the Barnes & Noble system and be available through a distributor. Many wanted to participate last week and couldn’t because they waited too late to link up with a distributor so books could be ordered in. Don’t. AuthorU will have a blog in a few weeks on all the steps you need to take if you want your book available within a bookstore. A special email will be sent to members as well.
