Heartbleed Chaos … What Authors Need to Do NOW

Heartbleed is tearing authors’ hearts apart … at least where it comes to Internet secured passwords. Not all your social media sites are affected, but many are. Don’t wait, you need to take action.

heartbleed

What does action mean? Change your passwords … this includes your regular channels like Pinterest, Facebook (but not LinkedIn and Twitter isn’t sure) … it includes some of the entertainment channels like Netflix (but not Hulu)… it includes email accounts like Gmail and Yahoo (but not AOL) … it includes eBay (but not Amazon) … you get the picture … CHANGE YOUR PASSWORDS … NOW!

No doubt, it’s a royal pain in the tush. To understand what it means to you and which passwords you have to change, click on the link below that says “Mashable.”  When you do, you will discover a long (really long), easy-to-read chart that covers a multitude of well-known and daily used sites. It includes social networks, email, video and audio, games and entertainment, even financial, government & taxes, along with national stores and commerce. Password manager sites are included as well.

First of all, get ye’ to Mashable’s list of sites that need password changing pronto. You can also watch the video, under the chart, that explains more-here’s the video to the Heartbleed bug.

Next, change all your passwords … yep, you are going to kiss off a few hours. Better than a breaking heart that can easily lead to your bank account.

Create a grid with all your new passwords … think of this as spring cleaning.

Don’t let it get under your social media skin–taking two aspirins won’t help.
