Get Ready for 2015 Holiday Selling and Shopping!
The AuthorU Board has decided to transition from the Jr. League Holiday selling format used a few years ago to the larger Colorado Country Christmas Mart that will roll out in early November. This means you will have the possibility of exposing your book to 25,000 potential buyers who are there to buy … something. Interested? Read on …
The location will be at the Denver Merchandise Mart on November 6-8. The first 50 AuthorU members who sign up will receive a $50 discount from AuthorU to participate (that means you are in for half price–wahoo!). As in the past, AuthorU will receive back 10 percent of all sales (all purchases will be handled by AuthorU with checks disbursed to participants before Thanksgiving).
Wait, wait … there’s more. Throughout the three days, there will be author signings in 90 minute blocks. The Mart has plenty of free parking … this is a great place to support the entire Colorado community AND do all your Holiday shopping at once. The AuthorU booth is huge — 20 x 24 — if people are heading for coffee or beverages, they will be walking right past us.
Heads up … this is for ALL AuthorU members, not just Colorado residents. You may not be here in Colorado for a book signing … but your fellow authors will be running the booth; there will be a mini catalog with all titles in them; and we will have assigned members here who will be acting as though they are book sellers for others–that means you.
For the first 50 AuthorU members who register below, the cost is ONLY $50–not $100. If you have more than one book, each addition title is $10. Don’t wait on this.
The AuthorU Booth will be smack in the middle of the lane that leads directly to all things beverage, meaning that there should be decent and ongoing traffic. Master designer Susie Scott will have her creative juices in play that will integrate the season flavor plus books, our central stage. Philippa Burgess will coordinate efforts for this year’s event and looks forward to debuting her new book as well.
If you are a NON-AuthorU member, you can play too. Your participation fee will be higher, a credit of $50 of your registration fee will go toward AuthorU membership.
Special pre-registration for the first 50 is $50. After that, Registration increases to $100 for AuthorU members. For NON-members, the Registration is $150 with $50 applied toward AuthorU membership if chosen.

There are FOUR HOT sessions will be available at the 2016 Extravaganza September 15-17, 2016 … only ONE Attendee can get his or her toe in the Author Shark Tank at a time. Our panel will listen for a few minutes to your pitch (hear/read that: LISTEN) and then decide IF and HOW they will help the author in the book and publishing quest. The Author Shark Tank will be held late Thursday afternoon, September 15th.
The Author Sharks like passion, persistence and excellence. They will proved incentives to writers and authors who demonstrate it in publishing and authoring through a variety of awards that pertain to their own expertise and product line.
What’s the value to you? It could be money; it could be time; it could be a product – as in the Author Shark has a product that he or she sells all day for $897 and it’s yours, free; it could be the joint venture creation of a product that features the author and his or her book—that is blasted to mega thousands to buy; it could be printing reduction; it could be a book cover; it could be a discount on a layout; it could be … What it could be will be solely dependent on YOU and YOUR PITCH to hook them and could be worth many thousands of dollars. Or if you bomb, you may only end up with a shark tooth! To enter the tank, there’s a fee.
Last year, participants came away with many thousands of dollars.
Author Shark Tank participants are identified on a first-come, first-serve basis. You will get pre-conference coaching from Judith Briles prior to entering the Tank.
